Antioxidant Rich Foods

Antioxidants are molecules capable of curtailing or arresting the consumption of oxygen by other molecules. Oxidation produces free radicals, which initiate a chain reaction and damages cells. Antioxidants attach themselves to free radicals and inhibit the oxidation process. Low levels of antioxidants and/or enzymes, cause oxidative stress and damages cells, which leads to aging and eventually death of the living entity. We cannot escape mortality, but we sure can regress the aging process, through consumption of foods rich in antioxidants. They are widely used as ingredients in medicines and dietary supplements, and as preservatives in food and cosmetics.

A paradox in metabolism while the complex life requires oxygen for its existence, yet it is a highly reactive molecule that damages living organisms by producing reactive oxygen elements. Subsequently, organisms contain a complex network of antioxidants and enzymes that inhibit the oxidation process and prevent damage to cellular components like DNA, proteins and lipids.

Brain due to its high metabolic rate and elevated levels of lipids is exceptionally vulnerable to oxidative injury; therefore medicines containing antioxidants are used to treat various forms of brain injury. Antioxidants appear to prevent oxidative stress in neurons and prevent neurological damage, hence are now being used as possible treatments for Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease

Fruits and vegetables are a rich source of antioxidants, and people who consume them regularly are at a lower risk of contracting heart diseases and some neurological diseases. There are plenty of foods that contain antioxidants and most are from a vegetarian diet, because plants are exposed to abundant sunlight, causing cell damage, and to counteract it plants develop and use antioxidants.

Almost all berries, citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables and bright colored vegetables contain antioxidants. An excellent way to get antioxidants in your diet is incorporate two servings of vegetable and one serving of fruit, alternatively, if tired of eating vegetables you can switch to consuming more fruits, dry fruits and fruit juices. To maintain a fine circulation of antioxidants in your body and excrete the detoxified substances, drinking 8-10 glasses of water is essential.

Since, there exists different types of antioxidants that protect your tissues from different types of damages, it is advisable to eat a wide range of antioxidant-rich foods. If, you are unable to prepare a bowl of salad everyday, buy a juicer and within minutes a big glass of juice will be dating you at your breakfast table. Another, convenient option is to use a high quality super green food product.

Fruits like exotic acai berry, blueberry, cranberry, and blackberries. Vegetables like beans, artichoke hearts, and particularly russet potatoes. Nuts like delicious pecans, walnuts, and hazelnuts. And those aromatic spices like cinnamon, oregano, and ground cloves. And not to forget the bright colored foods like apples, bananas, papaya, lemon, lime, orange and other citrus fruits.

The oxygen radical absorbance capacity is a parameter that defines how well the body can fight diseases, which in turns depends on the strength of your metabolism and absorption process. Today antioxidants are readily available in tonics, natural extracts, powders and food supplements and conveniently available in your nearest supermarket and your grocery store. A little effort on your part, will guarantee you longevity and a robust health.

9april~nothing much

Today, everyone has their own problem including me.. To submit my FYP, i was rush here and there, go to the photostate shop, n then rushing to go see prof... but in the end,, walla,, he's not there....
then, a friend of mine got problem with her laptop,,, need to go repair immediately because her FYP is there, and everything was mess today..

so,, first of all.. relax.. take a deep breath.. n suddenly all problem go away.. (maybe)..
while i was in class, she (laptop girl) text me that she will be going with another friend.. ok, 1 problem solve... then, evening, went to prof and submit my FYP.. problem solve again...

but,, unfortunately,,, my dear2 is not having his best day today.. not all problem can be solve by just do nothing.. (dunno what im talking about..)

hmm,,,, think for yourself ;p, ijust want to loose thing on my mind and writing this crap.. ;p

Breakdown of gas mixture CO2+N2

On march, we have done test on gas mixture of CO2 + N2 on different gas pressure and different gap distance. The purpose is to test dielectric strength of gases on different parameter. Tested using AC voltage in high voltage lab.


This is the view of flashover of mixture gas.

In this project, it is conclude that mixture of gas CO2+N2 are better insulator than single gas of pure CO2 and N2.Gas mixture composed an electronegative gas and an ordinary gas like N2 have some advantages such as reduction of gas cost, drop of boiling point or liquefaction temperature, and a nonlinear rise of discharge voltage for the low mixing ratio of the electronegative gas.

However, application of gas mixture has some disadvantages. One serious problem is that the liquefied recoveries of a component gas become very difficult, needing low temperature or high pressure, or both.

~This is just a slight information that i post. The full report is almost done, but i'm doing on single gas of CO2 and N2 only. The purpose of this project is to study the dielectric strength of different gas insulator to substitute SF6 gas that has been designated a greenhouse gas subject to emission restrictions at COP3.

kraken- 2010 3rd fastest supercomputer

Introduction
Supercomputer is a computer that is at the frontline of current processing capacity, particularly speed of calculation. Supercomputers were introduced in the 1960s and were designed primarily by Seymour Cray at Control Data Corporation (CDC), which led the market into the 1970s until Cray left to form his own company, Cray Research. He then took over the supercomputer market with his new designs, holding the top spot in supercomputing for five years (1985-1990).
Today, supercomputers are typically one of a kind custom designs produced by traditional companies such as Cray, IBM and Hewlett-Packard, who had purchased many of the 1980s companies to gain their experience. For November 2009, Jaguar took the top spot with 1.76 PetaFLOPS Rmax and 2.33 PFLOPS in peak computational power [Rpeak]. This machine is the first system to pass the 2PFLOPS barrier, only a year after the world saw the first PFLOPS system. The world's first 1PFLOPS machine was Roadrunner from Los Alamos National Laboratories [LANL], who dropped to second place with 1.04 Rmax / 1.37 Rpeak PFLOPS, down by 35 GFLOPS as Roadrunner is also having upgrades taking place [Roadrunner is still based on AMD's 1st Gen Opteron Dual-cores at 1.8 GHz].
